Insulation Testers: How to Use Them
Measurement of insulation resistance
On a live conductor, do not attempt to measure insulation resistance.
Make sure the MEASURE key isn't in the elevated position.
Consult the table to determine the measurement voltage to which the rotary switch should be set.
Connect the black test lead to the object being measured's ground side.
Connect the red test lead to the measurement line.
Activate the MEASURE key.
After the inductor has stabilised, read the value.
Function of discharging
To discharge properly, follow the steps outlined below following the measurement.
Release the MEASURE key without withdrawing the test leads from the item being measured.
The item is automatically discharged by the built-in discharge circuit.
When the "discharge mark" on the right side of the display vanishes, the discharge is complete.
Measurement of voltage
Test leads should only be attached to the breaker's secondary side.
When measuring voltage, never press the MEASURE key.
Select the V function with the rotary selector.
Connect the black test lead to the object being measured's ground side.
Connect the red test lead to the circuit breaker's line side.
After the indicator has stabilised, read the value.
